Why Montreat?

Abby and Steve have spoken to parents about the Youth Retreat we are planning this summer to Montreat, North Carolina. We are very excited at the opportunity to bring youth to Montreat because of the life changing experiences we believe the youth will have, the personal growth that will happen, and most importantly, growth in their walk with Jesus. Montreat Youth Conference runs throughout the entire summer. We are planning for our group to attend Week 6 of the conference, from July 27th- August 2nd. Each week around 300-400 youth attend the program. You can read more about the youth program here on their website: https://montreat.org/events/myc-25

Montreat has activities planned for each day of the week that the kids attend. There will be:

·      Worship

·      Keynote speakers

·      Small group experiences

·      Each day is jammed packed with events!

Each summer, there are thousands of youth that gather from across the US at Montreat. New relationships are built and the kids walk away with a renewed sense of self and purpose.

Our contact person at Montreat, Susie Burns, has agreed to speak with parents in the new year on a Zoom call to answer any and all questions or concerns about the program. We certainly understand that this is a monumental decision for any parent to make and we want to ensure everyone has a full understanding of the program as they decide if this will work for them and their family.

Here are some interesting details you might want to know about Montreat and how it was started. Montreat Conference Center is situated on approximately 4,000 acres of land and located just east of Asheville, North Carolina and in close proximity to Black Mountain, North Carolina. Its history goes back to 1897 and was formed with the idea that it would be an interdenominational retreat center. You can learn more about Montreat here: https://vimeo.com/612908742
